Today, we traveled this afternoon from home in North Carolina through South Carolina & back to N.C. to find out that traffic was bad on I-40 West in the mountains, as expected, with the anticipation of a merge into one lane deep in the mountains. We decided to travel taking US-74 to our destination of Cleveland, Tennessee. It was very scenic that way yet very curvy...we stopped to see Nantahala Gorge and we had dinner in Andrews, NC at McDonalds (our GPS tried to direct us to a KFC which didn't exist) and arrived in Cleveland, TN at our hotel around 8:30 P.M.
